Holly was born in Edmonton, Alberta, the youngest daughter of Rita and Clayton Johnston, died at 66 years old in Wetaskiwin. Being with you as you bravely suffered with cancer was the hardest thing we ever did together. Yet she always had a story to tell, a new song to teach to her grandchildren and nephews, who greeted her with joyful anticipation.
Holly grew up on a farm in the Pipestone area where she enjoyed many things, but baseball being her sporting passion. The family moved into Wetaskiwin where she finished her High School education. She pursued a career in banking and spent the majority of her years of service as a Branch Manager.
She raised her children in the Rosebrier area where they enjoyed camping, skiing, card nights, fishing, golfing, curling, and Equine 4-H. She loved being out in the pen with her miniature donkeys training them to pull a cart. A special relationship with Otto was spent in the Holden area on his farm. The Ponoka Stampede was an annual favourite with family and friends. Holly enjoyed her summer retreat at Whispering Spruce Campground and cherished every moment spent with her children and grandchildren around the campfire or playing games. Her grandchildren lovingly remember her as the “Fe Fi Fo Fum Granny” and will miss her outlandish and hilarious stories. We are left with special memories, stories, humour and laughter for a one of a kind individual.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Becky Weiler (grandchildren, Brayden, Hannah); son, Craig (Danielle) Weiler (grandchildren, Kaelyn, Paisley, Jack); of Wetaskiwin County; partner, Otto Suchy of Holden; sisters, Terry (Jeremy) Komives of Mulhurst Bay, Shelly (Barry) Hawkes of Wetaskiwin; brother, Dan (Shelley) Johnston of Busby; brother-in-law, Ed Oliver of Wetaskiwin; best friend, Tracy Arnett of Wainwright; as well as numerous other relatives, nieces, nephews and friends. Holly was predeceased by parents, Rita and Clayton Johnston; sister, Merri-Lee Oliver.
A Private Celebration of Life with private interment at Bonnie Glen Cemetery will take place February 14, 2024. In memory of Holly, donations may be made to The Cross Cancer Institute or charity of donor’s choice.
