Hillebrand "Herb" de Jonge

Herb passed away peacefully from a short battle with lung cancer, at the Ponoka Hospital and Care Centre on May 4, 2026.

He was born to John and Clara de Jonge on July 11, 1950, in Groningen, Holland.

Herb is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Alie; sons John (Dorien), Mike (Michelle), and Herb Jr.; six grandchildren: Kolton, Kami-lynn (Ronnie), Rylee, Keaton, Haylee (Jesse), and Jayden; one great-grandson Baylor; one brother, five sisters, and their families; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Herb was predeceased by his son Frank Ted; his parents John and Clara de Jonge; brother Frank de Jonge; sister Gail Springer; his in-laws John and Jenny Verbeek; seven brothers-in-law; one sister-in-law; a nephew and a niece.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at Bashaw United Church. 

Donations in Herb’s memory are gratefully accepted to Rimoka Housing Foundation, Ponoka.
