Hildegard Luebke, age 100 of Wetaskiwin, died peacefully at her home surrounded by family and comforted by her unwavering faith in God.
Born in Pommern, Germany, to parents, Otto and Elise Strehl, her childhood years were spent on their farm in Eichfier with two siblings. After formal schooling Hildegard went on to learn the art of sewing and dressmaking in Schneidemhl. The Second World War changed her life forever, working as a Red Cross nurse in various hospitals and more importantly finding the love of her life, Paul Luebke. Hildegard and Paul married in 1942 and enjoyed 50 years of marriage together. They moved to West Germany where they raised their children Manfred and Ruth before immigrating to Canada in 1992 where sadly Paul passed away the same year.
Hildegard settled in Wetaskiwin for her last 25 years and was blessed to celebrate her 100 birthday with her loving family and friends. She trusted in God all of her life and the Lord took care of her every step of the way.
Now Hildegard is with God for all eternity and deeply mourned by her children and their spouses, four grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She will live in our hearts forever.
A private service will be held by the family at a later date
