Herbert Eugene Perry
May 14, 1933 – March 20, 2020
With saddened hearts, the family of Herb Perry of Ponoka, Alberta announce his passing on Friday, March 20, 2020 at the age of 86 years old.
He leaves to mourn, his three daughters Marlene (Mike) Leroux, Linda Perry, and Donna (Art) Paradis; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his sister Yvonne Perry; his sisters-in-law Marlene Perry, Agnes (Clair) Lundstrom, and Ellen MacMannes; brother-in-law Ken (Lucille) Straarup; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Anna Perry; his brothers Ralph and Ken; and brother-in-law Tommy Straarup.
In his early years, Dad had been in western Alberta, and in British Columbia logging. He had been yearning to drive truck and through the years hauled logs, then bought his own gravel truck and for years he loaded his shack in the truck box, his home away from home, and off he’d go, wherever the work took him. Mom and us girls would take care of the animals, birds and gardens while he was away. In that time, Mom and Dad bought a few acres and lived there until they invested in farmland. Dad then decided to stay at home and farm full time, as being on the road most the time took its toll. He then sold the gravel truck and became a full time farmer until retirement in 1990. He burst with pride when he could take those grandkids on his tractor and talk extensively of many life stories, as the kids listened on. His love of fishing took him to many lakes, any opportunity with whoever was willing, thrilled him. Over the years he had some major medical setbacks but never ever slowing him down. For years they rented the land out and were able to travel, spending many winters in Yuma, Arizona.
At this time, Wombold Family Funeral Homes
will shelter Dad in their care until we can hold
a Celebration of Life.
