He is survived by the mother of his children, Mildred Omeasoo; children, Craig (Andrea), Jeanette, Brent (Michelle); brothers, Ron (Carla), Pat (Colleen); sisters, Flo (Bruce), Wanda (Ron), Eunice, Grace; sibling first cousins, Dinah, Phyllis, George Jr., Delia, Lucy, Justine, Leon, Denise, Ursula, and Robbie Montour; sibling first cousins Keith, Nick, Orville, Carl Johnson, and Holly Johnson-Rattlesnake; grandchildren, Shantehl, Kirstin, Tayler, Danica, Brooke, and Chance; great grandchildren, Mehdi, Sahar, Hafssa, Myla, Ruqiyah, and Eman Dion. As well as numerous neices and nephews.

Herbert was predeceased by his mother, Jeanette Saddleback; maternal grandparents, Philomene “Flora” Saddleback (nee Yellowbird) & Batiste Saddleback; paternal grandparents, Sarah and Joe Buffalo-Dion; parents, Myers and Nellie Buffalo; brothers, Myers Jr., Calvin; sister, Annette; aunties, Helen, Doreen, and Stella; uncles, Dan, Edgar, Morris; special friend, late Grace Littlechild.
