Henry grew up in Dusseldorf, Germany enjoying life with his childhood friends, hunting and fishing, boxing and of course cars.
Henry, Edith and Josef came to Canada in 1963, arriving in Halifax, Nova Scotia, after looking into what province they wanted to move to. The decision was made to come to Alberta and start a pig farm in Looma, Alberta (starting with 600 sows). After a few years in Looma they packed up and moved to the New Sweden area east of Wetaskiwin and here he set up one of the biggest pig farms in Alberta, hosting 15,000 pigs. When his pigs were weened, the pigs were moved to the Ballhorn’s farm to fatten up before market weight. When Edith passed away Henry decided to shut down his pig production and move off the farm. He then bought a farm west of Wetaskiwin where he raised cattle. He lived a majority of his life on the farm playing crib and having coffee with friends and neighbors.
In 2022 he moved to Peace Hills Lodge where he beat everyone in crib, (Or so he said).
Henry is remembered by relatives and friends in Germany and Wetaskiwin area.
Cremation has taken place, and a graveside service will be held on Monday, August 18, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at New Sweden Mission Church Cemetery (Highway 822 and Twp 460).
