Harvey Dick Obituary

Harvey Dick died on November 21, 2024 in the Lacombe Hospital.

Harvey is the third child born to John and Helen Dick of Beiseker.  His family moved to northern Alberta when he was three and this is where he grew up.  He rode horse back to a one room school in the community.

Harvey enjoyed working with equipment and machinery.  He began working for neighbors,  and learned to operate Caterpillar equipment, clearing land for farmers who were bringing more acres of land into production.  He spent several winters in logging and sawmill operations.

In July 1955, Harvey and Connie were married and for the next couple of years, he worked in another logging and sawmill operation skidding trees and building roads in the bush in the Williams Lake, BC area.

When they returned to the farm, Harvey still spent the winters logging trees and building roads is the bush with his business partner, Ed Reiman.  The had their own cat and worked together.  Harvey was a successful farmer growing grass seed, Canola, and cereal crops.  Harvey took flying lessons and enjoyed flying his own airplane.  He also liked hunting, fishing, and camping.

Harvey and Connie moved from northern Alberta to Lacombe in 1997.

Harvey is lovingly remembered by his wife of 69 years, Connie.  Harvey and Connie have three children: Wallace (Brenda), Darwin (Laura), and Coralynn.  They have seven grandchildren: Daniel, Victoria, Brandon, Meredith, Brittney (Mike), Megan (McKenzie), and Conner.  They also have a great-granddaughter Mackenzie.

Harvey’s family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Unit B of the Lacombe Hospital & Care Center for their compassionate care and attention.

A Memorial Service will be held later this year.
