H. Marion (Ringwall) Petersson

October 5, 1930 – May 29, 2026

Marion passed away peacefully on May 29, 2026 at the age of 95 years.

Marion was born on October 5, 1930 and spent nearly her entire life in Alberta, which she proudly called home. She attended school in New Norway and Wetaskiwin, graduating in 1949. Following graduation, she pursued a career in nursing and was part of the graduating class of the Edmonton General Hospital School of Nursing in 1953. Throughout her nursing career, Marion cared for others in Edmonton, Alberta; Bakersfield, California; and Wetaskiwin, Alberta.

On July 30, 1960, Marion married the love of her life, Stig Petersson, in Highland Park, Alberta. Together they built a life rooted in faith, family, service and community, sharing nearly 66 years of marriage.

Marion had a lifelong love of reading and faithfully served as the librarian at her church for many years. She was also a talented seamstress and knitter who expressed her care for others through her handiwork. Among her many creations were approximately one hundred baby sweaters, each lovingly knit with her signature blue and yellow stripe.

A woman of deep and abiding faith, Marion was known as a prayer warrior who faithfully lifted up her family, church, friends and community in prayer. Her quiet strength, steadfast faith, and caring spirit touched countless lives and leaves a lasting legacy.

Marion is lovingly remembered by her husband, Stig Petersson; her daughter Ellen (Lance); her son John-Eric (Joanne); and her daughter Anna (Jefferson). She will also be dearly missed by her grandchildren Linnéa (Conor), Annika (Christopher), Torsten, Anders, Mia, and Helené; and by her great-grandchildren Stetson, Briggs, and Charles.

She was predeceased by her parents and sisters, who welcomed her into eternity.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the many family members, friends, neighbours, and members of the community who visited, encouraged, prayed for and supported Marion and Stig over the years. We are also deeply grateful to the staff and caregivers whose compassionate care brought comfort, dignity, and kindness throughout her later years. Donations in Marion's memory may be made to Hope Mission in Canada or Erikshjälpen Second Hand in Sweden.

Her life was a gift. Her memory is a blessing. Her faith was her foundation, and her legacy lives on in all who knew and loved her.

A service will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. at the Wetaskiwin Mission Church (3610- 56 Ave., Wetaskiwin).
