Greg Bilan passed away on Sunday, April 13th at the Red Deer Regional Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer.
Greg was born on October 4, 1977 in Calgary, Alberta to Darlene (Somerville) Bilan and Gregory Bilan.
Greg leaves to mourn his children Eric and Alyssa Bilan; his brother Brian (Barb) VandenBerg; nephews Kevin, Garrett, and Tommas; and nieces Amanda and Claira. He is also survived by Uncle Ron (Rose) Somerville and cousin James; Uncle Rob (Val) Somerville and cousins Matthew, Nicole, Brayden (Kennedy), and Colton (Abby); and Uncle Brian (Darlene) Somerville. Greg was predeceased by his parents Darlene and Gregory Bilan; grandparents Herb and Loni Somerville; as well as Uncle Larry, Uncle Gerald and Aunty Shirley.
Greg’s family moved from Red Deer to Ponoka in the early ‘90s where he attended and completed school. He worked locally for a couple of years and when other opportunities became available in the oil & gas industry he moved his family to Edmonton. Greg had a strong work ethic and always made sure his family was provided for. He enjoyed camping and took many trips with Eric and Alyssa. Amongst it all, Greg always took the time to visit family and friends.
Greg’s family thanks Unit 32 staff at the Red Deer Regional Hospital for the care they provided to Greg.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a charity of your choice. Rest in peace Greg. You will be deeply missed and forever loved.
A celebration of Greg’s life will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025 at 2:30 p.m. at the Ponoka Funeral Home. The Interment Service will follow at Forest Home Cemetery.
