Gordon Weir Obituary

Gordon (Gord) Lee Weir was born February 10, 1963 in Ponoka, Alberta to Robert and Doreen Weir. He passed away January 2, 2023 at 59 young years of age after a courageous battle with glioblastoma.

Gord was known for his loyalty, his love of life and vacations, and his quick and very dry humor. Gord was a great host to his family and friends, whether he was living in Canada or Guyana. He loved cooking, barbecuing and smoking meats and his well-stocked bar and beer fridge were always available for anybody who stopped by. Gord was well-known for his red ‘65 Mustang, the first vehicle he purchased when he was 16.

Gord was a dedicated employee with 39 years of Exxon Mobile/IOL experience in both individual and leadership positions supporting Drilling, Well Optimization, Plant and Field Operations with roles in Procurement and Operations. He took every opportunity to travel to new places with his work including: Czech Republic, Indonesia, Malaysia, Australia, Nigeria, and expat positions in Guyana and Qatar.

Gord is survived by the love of his life, best friend, travel buddy, soul mate and wife of 35 years, Linda - lovingly known as his girlfriend; his pride and joy daughters, his 3 EngiWeir’s, Kelcie, Jordyn and Kenzie; their husbands whom he viewed as his sons, Ray Smith, Justin Nally and Alex Amies and the sunshine of his life, his granddaughter, June Nally.

He is also survived by his Mother, Doreen Weir; his brother Jim, married to Lynn Weir (Jenna and Megan); brother Tom, married to Colleen Weir; his sister-in-law Karen Weir (Hayley, Lindsey and Josh Stebner, Carter); and his brother-in -law, David Lucas, married to Deb Leimert (Matthew, Justin and Ashley (Emberly, Jaelyn), Connor, Allison, Brandon Gauthier).

He was predeceased by his father Robert Weir; his brother Mike Weir; his brother-in-law Brian Lucas; his father-in-law and his mother-in-law, Bill and Peggy Lucas; and his grandfather and grandmother Russell and Rachel Twa.

A celebration of his life will be held on what would have been his 60th birthday on Friday, February 10th, 2023 from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. at Toolshed Brewing, #9, 801-30 Street N.E., Calgary, Alberta.
