The family of Glennette Smeltzer wish to announce her passing on April 16, 2026 at the Lacombe Hospital, at the age of 80 years.
Glennette was born on June 26, 1945 to Glenn & Elsie (Kent) Gallagher and lived in Clive area most of her life. She attended Clive School until 1962 and then moved to Red Deer for a few years, working doing casual labour.
She met Harry Smeltzer and they married February 26, 1966, after which they moved to and took over the Smeltzer family farm. In addition to farming for many years, she had several jobs, most of which were a personal care aide working for several different companies and individuals.
Glennette is survived by her son James Smeltzer; daughter Lois Smeltzer; 4 grandchildren: Kayla (Justin) Haley, Colton Smeltzer, Chelsea (Josh) Smeltzer, and Tanner Smeltzer; 7 great-grandchildren: Jasmine, Lilly, Arianna, Paisley, Teegan, Skylar, and Spencer; 4 siblings: Marie Jensen, Connie Smith, Marlene (Art) Ellis, and Anita (Mike) Duffy; sisters-in-law Linda Gallagher and Mary Williams; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Harry; brothers Ernie and Keith; brothers-in-law Art, Wes, and Erling; and her parents Glenn & Elsie.
A Funeral Service will be held at Ponoka Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. with the Interment (Clive Cemetery) and Lunch (Westling Hall) to follow.
