On April 20, 2026, Gerald Nicholas Callum (Boots) of Wetaskiwin passed away surrounded by his family at Northcott Care Centre at the age of 87 years.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Irene Callum; a predeceased son, Martin Callum and three daughters, Karen Dugan (John) of Red Deer, Carol McLeod (Rob) of Calgary and Marie Prout (Bryan) of Grande Prairie. Jerry and Irene have six grandchildren: Ian Dugan, Nicholas Dugan, Scott McLeod, Allison McLeod, Amy Prout, and Kelsey Sutherland (Brodie) that gifted them with four great-grandchildren: Nolan, Stella, Rory and Holden. Jerry was one of 12 siblings, of which 10 are predeceased: Michael Callum (Joan), Norman Callum, Richard Callum (Lillian), Charles Harold Callum (Kay), David Callum (Bonnie), Irene Rayner (Ron), Jean Fenske (Lloyd), Dorothy Plant (Jack), Edward Callum and Margaret Callum. Jerry's only living sibling Johnny Callum and his wife Jean are still living in Wetaskiwin.
Jerry attended school in Wetaskiwin and completed up to grade seven and started to work in the community. He did several jobs in his lifetime; he worked at a butcher shop, drove the transport bus at the Edmonton International Airport, and worked in a gravel crushing crew for many years. The work he loved the most was truck driving and as a heavy-duty mechanic for the county for 30 years, and of course being the on-call mechanic and handyman for his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at Baker Funeral Chapel (5302 50 Avenue) on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at 1 pm with Gaie Goin officiating. There will be a lunch following the service at the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge in Wetaskiwin. Please join us to visit and celebrate Jerry's life.
Interment will take place at a later date.
