Gera Sophie (van der Voort) Weber

Gera was born in Oldebroek, Holland on April 7, 1978. She was the third youngest of 8 children born to Willem and Sophie van der Voort. At the age of 10 Gera emigrated with her family from Holland to Canada to a dairy farm close to Camrose, AB. After graduating from high school she attended Key-Way-Tin Bible Institute for 2 years to further her education. It was there where she developed a real love and calling to work with people in Indigenous Communities, something that she carried on for the rest of her life.
    
Gera married Lorne Weber in 2008 and together they settled in Ponoka. Gera loved her hometown of Ponoka and was a very active community member. She was very involved in her home church and loved volunteering at the Thrift store as well. She was well known for her cheerful and kind nature, always willing to help, and would generously share her baking and garden produce from her well-tended garden filled with vegetables and flowers! 
    
Gera found real comfort and strength in her close relationship with her Heavenly Father. Her faith remained her stronghold until her Lord and Heavenly Father took her Home on Christmas Eve. She will be very dearly missed by all who knew and loved her! 
    
Gera was predeceased by her parents Willem and Sophie van der Voort; brother in-law Teun Spronk. She is survived by her brothers Derk-Jan (Courtney) and Rutger van der Voort; her sisters Anneke van der Voort, Dieneke Spronk, Hendriette (David) Bosma, Willemien (Moses) Wright, Sophie (Dirk) Stolk; and all her nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 2, 2025 at Church of the Open Bible.
