It is with great sadness we announce the loss of Garry Farwell, who passed away peacefully at the Ponoka Hospital and Care Centre on May 17, 2025, at the age of 79 years, with his family at his side.
Garry was born on May 28, 1945 and grew up on a farm near Assiniboia, Saskatchewan. After high school, Garry became a commercial printer and married Judy (Gosselin) in 1969. In 1971 they moved to Three Hills, Alberta, where he owned Select Printing for 17 years. While living there, Garry and Judy welcomed their two children, David (1981) and Sara (1986). In 1988 the family moved to Ponoka where Garry opened Photography by Garry Farwell. Throughout his working life, Garry held various jobs including 13 years as an Educational Rehabilitation Therapist for Wolf Creek School Division, from which he retired in 2010.
Garry was predeceased by his parents Herb and Minnie Farwell; his sister-in-law Adelle Gosselin; and his son David.
Garry will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Judy; his daughter Sara Bal (David) of Calgary and their children Rachelle, Steven, Breanne; his son David’s children - Raina, Shalyn, and Sam; and one great-grandchild Saige. Garry is also survived by his siblings Glenn (Marg), Herb (Diane), Linda, and Eldeen (Warner) Kabatoff; as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine Catholic Church on Monday, May 26, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. with the Interment Service following at Forest Home Cemetery.
Memorial donations are gratefully accepted to the St. Augustine Catholic Church Building Fund or the Alberta Lung Association.
