Freda Edna (Krause) Schultz

Freda Edna Schultz passed away peacefully on April 27, 2022 at the Ponoka Hospital and Care Centre.

Born on a farm just north of Ponoka, Freda lived at Hilda, Alberta, Chilliwack, Vancouver, and then full circle back to Ponoka. After marrying Anton Schultz in 1967, she and her two children, Marietta and Richard, enjoyed the farming community near Bashaw. In 1978 Anton and Freda retired into Ponoka where they spent their remaining years.

Freda was passionate about music her whole life, particularly the hymns of the faith, which she played on the piano, organ, keyboard, accordion and omnichord. She loved entertaining in senior’s lodges and different venues around Ponoka, Bashaw and Rimbey. Freda also loved gardening, preserving her harvest, crocheting, making placemats out of Christmas cards,  birthday cards, and cryptoquotes.

She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren immensely and could hardly wait for them to come to visit and sit on her knee.

Freda was predeceased by her husband Anton, and by her parents, her brother and four sisters. She is survived by her children Marietta (Eric) and Rick (Colette); her grandchildren Lisa (Joey), Andrea (Todd), Kassia (Mike), Nicole (Scott), and Eric (Jane); her great-grandchildren Karlee, Abbagail, Adelyn, Ethan, Silas and Elise; and her sister Doreen.

Freda will be greatly missed, but it is a comfort to know that she will spend eternity with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and the loved ones who have gone on before.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 7 at 1:00 p.m. (LIVESTREAM LINK BELOW) at the Church of the Open Bible with the Interment to follow at Forest Home Cemetery. A time for refreshments and visiting will be held at the church fellowship hall following the Graveside Service.
