With heavy hearts, the family of Frank Mickey announces his passing on November 22, 2025. Frank was born on July 1, 1927, in Springdale to Caroline and Frank Mickey, and lived a long, full life defined by hard work, family, community, and the wide-open spirit of the West.
Frank was predeceased by his beloved wife Marg, and by his cherished daughters Wendy and Jayne. Though he experienced profound loss, he carried on with quiet strength, generosity, and the steady presence for which he was known.
He is lovingly remembered by his sister Lorraine (Bud) Venables and sons-in-law Gord DeLeeuw and Don (Dorothy) Hart. Frank was immensely proud of his grandchildren - Brandi Abt (Dustin), Bo (Jolene) DeLeeuw, Amanda (Roger) Hart, and Angela (Andrew) Clough - and he took great joy in watching the next generations grow. He leaves behind great-grandchildren Keenan, Ryan, Jenna, Riley (Lisa), Colton, Kylie, Ava, Brooklyn, Frederick, William, and Jacob, as well as great-great-grandchildren Ella and Clinton, each of whom brought him tremendous pride and delight.
A Celebration of Frank’s Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 1, 2025, at the Stagecoach Saloon, where family and friends are invited to gather, share stories, and honour a life well lived.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Rodeo Historical Association, both causes close to Frank’s heart.
Frank will be remembered for his kindness, his unwavering loyalty to those he loved, and the legacy of family and community he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed.
