Francis William Janke

On January 18, 2025, Francis Janke, of Ponoka, passed away at the age of 70 years.

Francis William Janke was born to Verna (Janke) Hollihan on October 11th, 1954. He was a sweet boy who grew up in Usona. Francis spent many days with his beloved grandmother, Lydia Janke, and grandfather, Nathaniel (Dan) Janke. He was the oldest of four brothers - Alton, Eugene, and Lloyd . He grew up on a farm in Usona, surrounded by many family members who lived nearby. Francis went to school in Pigeon Lake, and after he completed school he had many jobs throughout his life. He worked for the Town of Castor, he worked as a DJ, he worked for LA metal, he did housekeeping at Crown catering in Edmonton and worked up north on the oil rigs doing miscellaneous jobs. He loved to go out and have a good time with his friends, and he was known as "Groovy" to many people.

He will be missed by his brothers, Alton, Eugene (Crystal), and Lloyd (Laura); nieces and nephew, Candyce, Kayla, Morgan, and Courtney Hollihan, and Chandra Cunningham; great-nephews Ryder, Hudson, and Carter as well as many other family and friends.

He was predeceased by his mother, Verna (Janke) Hollihan; Mervin Hollihan, grandparents, Lydia and Dan Janke, and cousin, Jacqueline (Quast) Cunningham.
