It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Florence Bowie. Florence was born in Wetaskiwin, Alberta on August 10th, 1927, to Ed & Marie Hagstrom. She grew up on the farm North of Gwynne, attended Offerdale school and completed high school at Wetaskiwin Composite. She met the love of her life, Leonard Bowie, and they were married August 10th, 1948.
She leaves behind her sons, Glen (Jayne), and Keith; grandchildren, Dawna (Dustin Knull), Shane, Curtis, Corey (Courtney), Mitchell (Hannah), and Kyla (Brayden); and great grandchildren, Kinsey & Cashten Knull, and Ava Bowie; brother, Marvin (Rose) Hagstrom; sister, Helen Sharkey; and aunt, Elsie Denton; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Florence was predeceased by her husband, Leonard; parents Ed & Marie Hagstrom; brothers, Ronald & Dennis; and sister, Carol.
Florence was happiest going shopping downtown, working about the house, and tending to her garden with her beloved Leonard. She also enjoyed coffee dates with her friends and cousins, and visits with grandkids and great grandkids where she played games, watched cartoons, taught them to knit, and shared her favourite recipes. Florence will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends.
Cremation has occurred and a celebration of life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Florence’s memory are gratefully accepted to the Wetaskiwin Health Foundation.
