Emma Cook passed away peacefully on April 14 at the age of 96, at Ponoka Hospital Long-Term Care.
Born on October 21, 1929, to Stephen and Caroline Rinsky. Emma grew up in the Schultz district. Emma married John Cook on August 20, 1948. They were blessed with 5 children, 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Emma was a beautiful woman, an understanding wife, a caring mother, a devoted grandmother (NAN), a great-grandmother, and a dedicated career woman. She led her life with grace and kindness. Emma was patient, loving, and a friend to everyone.
Emma will be lovingly remembered by Laverne’s son Jason (Christina) and their children Sean, Megan, and Emma; daughter Beverley Cook and her son Todd; son Donald Cook, his daughter Anne-Alisa (Wyman) Wiancko and children Maleah and Brielle, and daughter Dayna (Mike) Trautman and their children Jade, and Allan; son Larry Cook (Annette) and their children Preston (Wilda Cortes) and Elyse (Patrick) Lee; son Brad Cook, his daughter Taylor (Austyn) Harris and their son Nash, and his daughter Courtney Cook (Ryan Hutterer). Emma Cook was predeceased by her husband John Cook; daughter Laverne McGonigal; granddaughter Katelyn Cook; brother Walter Rinsky; sister Lydia Weins; and half-brothers Art and Henry Rinsky.
A Funeral service will be held at Ponoka Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ponoka on Sunday, May 3, 2026 at 4:30 p.m.
