Emily Relota Smith

Emily was born and raised in Iloilo, Philippines, and later made her way to Canada where she built a life filled with love, purpose, and community.

Emily is survived by her son, Ian Smith; sister, Lelanie (Jaime); brothers, Cenen (Luisa), Reynaldo, and Alex (Amelia); special friend, Juanita Alderdice; and numerous close friends who considered her family. She was predeceased by her husband, Emmerson Smith; parents, Teodulfo Sr. and Teofista Relota; and three siblings.

From a young age, Emily carried the heart of a caregiver and the strength of a leader. As the eldest daughter, she worked tirelessly to support her family and care for her younger siblings—an early calling that shaped a lifetime of compassion and service. Her father was always proud of the sacrifices she made with such grace.

Emily built a meaningful career in long-term care, where she passionately supported her clients and formed lasting bonds with her colleagues. Her warmth, humor, and generous spirit made her not just a coworker but a bright light in the workplace. She found joy in serving others, and her acts of care were deeply appreciated by all who knew her.

She lived her life with creativity and intention, always making the most of every moment. Whether singing in church, traveling to new places, or bringing beauty to the everyday, Emily left a sprinkle of joy and love wherever she went. A woman of deep faith, she often shared Scripture and uplifted others with her beautiful voice.

Her vibrant spirit and selfless heart will be dearly missed, but her legacy of kindness, music, and unwavering faith will live on in every life she touched.
