"Snuffy"
1926 ~ 2023
Ellis Vestal Lawes "Snuffy" was born at Viking, Alberta on October 8, 1926 to Walter and Catherine Lawes, sixth out of nine children.
He married Myrna (Moult) in October 1950. Claude was born in 1951 followed by Cindy in 1961.
After working in the oil patch in numerous places, they settled in the Bonnie Glen area and finally moved to the acreage south of Wetaskiwin in 1959, where he lived until his passing.
His many loves included chariot racing, rodeo, barrel racing, coffee and tea and going out for supper with friends. Snuffy was extremely proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed watching them at rodeos, dance, baseball, hockey and everything else they were doing.
Ellis is survived by his son Claude (Bev); daughter Cindy (Colin); grandson Corey (Jenny); granddaughter Tensity (Dylan); great-grandchildren Lilly and Reed Lawes; Sutton, Rhett and Paicee Jones; special friend Linda Taylor; sister Lillian Hill as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his wife Myrna; parents Walter and Catherine and seven siblings.
A Celebration of Snuffy's life will be held on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the Wetaskiwin Ag Grounds (72 AB-13 #4214, Wetaskiwin), with interment to follow at the Wetaskiwin Memorial Cemetery (4701 63 Avenue).
