Dr. Paul Ramalingam

Dr. Paul Ramalingam, an avid scholar, devoted family man and lifelong adventurer passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones, on December 4, 2024, at the age of 80.

Born in South India, Paul embodied resilience, curiosity, and determination. At the age of 25 he immigrated to the USA, with a full scholarship, 5 dollars in his pocket and an unshakeable belief in the power of education. He earned his PhD in biology from the University of Notre Dame, an achievement that marked the beginning of an illustrious career spanning nearly five decades. In addition to teaching, his groundbreaking research on mosquitoes and his passion for nature enriched both his academic contributions and his personal pursuits.

Paul shared 52 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Pamela. Together, they raised two daughters, Natasha (Paul Soper) and Lalitha Taylor, who were the pride of his life. As a grandfather to Madelaine, Gabrielle, Reid and Eden he found immense joy in storytelling, exploring the outdoors and passing on his love for learning to them.

Dr. Ramalingam’s life was a tapestry of rich experiences. His memory will live on in the lives of his family, the students he inspired, and the countless people who were touched by his wisdom and generosity. He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

Please join us in celebrating Dr. Ramalingam’s life on Saturday, March 22 at 3:00 p.m. at College Heights Seventh-day Adventist Church.  The service will be livestream broadcast at service time.  The video link is located below (only accessible after the Sabbath Church Service has concluded).
