Doug Webber Obituary

It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Douglas Cyril Webber on January 3, 2023.

Doug was born in Ponoka, Alberta to Cyril and Patricia Webber on March 23, 1958.

He worked for the Town of Ponoka for 30 years, most of which were spent mowing grass in the summer months and driving the Zamboni at the arena in the winter.

Doug took pride in his job and enjoyed watching and visiting with family and friends as their kids grew up through minor hockey and figure skating.

He was just about to begin his retirement.

Doug was a quiet, kind-hearted, good-humoured guy.

When not on the mower or Zamboni, he could be found golfing, biking alongside June, cheering on the Edmonton Oilers from the comfort of his recliner, and sitting around the fire at the family cabin.

Doug leaves to mourn his best friend and partner, June York and her sons, Greg and Ryan Wiancko; his siblings, Jacquie (Pete) Koleyak, Jerri-Lynn (Jim) Kopores, Lori Skaley, and sister-in-law Sandy Webber; Uncle Gerry and Shirley Field; Auntie Leanne Eadie; as well as June’s siblings and their families.

He was Papa Doug to Wyatt, Haley, Doc, and Ruth; and proud Uncle to Jaime and Joey Koleyak, Alicia, Kaley and Cole Kopores, Sam and Chelsea Webber, and Jaelene and Mikeal Skaley.

Doug was predeceased by his parents, Cy and Pat, and his brother Tom Webber.

As per Doug’s wishes, there will be no service at this time.

Doug will be greatly missed.
