Doris Evelyn Bailer Maciborsky Jacobi passed away peacefully on December 15, at the age of 95 years.
She was born on September 30, 1929, in Wetaskiwin and grew up on a farm with her 5 brothers and 4 sisters. She was the oldest and was always very close to her siblings.
She was predeceased by her husbands, Walter Maciborsky and Louie Jacobi; her son, Myron and his wife Leah; brothers, Elmer, Harvey, and Leonard; and sisters, Leona Feldberg and Irene
Boomer.
She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Scott (Ron); and sons, Blaine Maciborsky (Lucy), and Myles Jacobi (Amanda); grandchildren, Myra Maciborsky (Jim), Marcy Maciborsky (Owen), Erin Scott (Brett), Laurel Kary (Nick), Devonny Hamula (Brian), and Brett Jacobi; great-grandchildren, Kasey, Marcus, Brodie, Alice, Harper, Cameron, and Maverick; brothers, Clarence Bailer (Yvonne), Melvin Bailer (Fiona); sisters, Marion Smale (Jack), Jeneline Moan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Doris had wonderful friends, and they loved to get together to travel, play dominoes, make quilts, go to the Legion, and go to yard sales. She loved to travel and did lots of it. She traveled all over Europe, the United States, and Canada.
Doris was a member of the Legion for most of her life and worked at the Wetaskiwin hospital. She was a character! She had a great sense of humour. She loved food (especially Kentucky Fried Chicken and milkshakes), television, playing dominoes, doing puzzles, flowers, yard sales, shopping in general, clothes, making quilts, and Tiger Woods. She loved watching golf, baseball, skating, the Olympics, and the Calgary Stampede on television.
Most of all, Doris loved her family, and we all loved her. She had a long and very full life. We know that she is at peace now. She is with God and enjoying her reunion with all the family and friends who have gone before.
She will always be part of our lives.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Hendricks, the staff at Peace Hills Lodge, the Wetaskiwin Hospital, and especially the staff at Good Shepherd Home, Ladybug Support Services (Andrea, Theresa, and Lyne) and Eilene Odea for the wonderful care they provided to Doris.
