Doreen Bailer Obituary

Doreen Lois Bailer
October 29, 1940 – November 15, 2020

It’s with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Doreen Lois Bailer on Sunday, November 15th at her home in Wetaskiwin, Alberta.

She was known as a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

Doreen is survived by her sons, Shawn (Deborah) and John Tracy (Kristi); four grandchildren – Nathan & Olivia Bailer and Madyson & Lacey Bailer; sister, Joyce Gould; brother, Darwin (Vera) Feldberg as well as numerous nephews and nieces.

Doreen was predeceased by her oldest son, Shane; parents, John and Pearl Emilie Feldberg and brother-in-law, Sid Gould.

Doreen was born on the Feldberg family farm outside of Wetaskiwin, Alberta on October 29th, 1940 and spent her childhood growing up on the farm in Brightview and marrying Harvey Bailer on June 13th, 1958.

Eventually they settled on a farm north of Falun, Alberta where she spent many, many years on the family dairy farm. She spent countless hours milking the cows, raising cattle and watching her two sons grow into adults.

As both Shawn and Tracy married, grandchildren were next to come. She was the happiest grandparent ever and it continued until her passing. She enjoyed watching them play sports, dance, cheer or any other activities she was able to attend.

Her other passions included playing crib at local Legions, service clubs and more importantly playing and always continuing to teach her four grandchildren how to win at crib.

When she wasn’t playing crib or being with her grandchildren, family or friends, she was tending to her plants at home, her garden behind her house in Wetaskiwin or reading her latest Harlequin Romance novel.

Doreen will forever be in our hearts. She was truly known as the most loving and caring mother, sister, grandmother and friend who was always volunteering her time for anyone when asked. We will miss calling her Grandma Wetaskiwin, however we all have our everlasting memories.

Flowers are graciously declined. If you wish to donate, please direct your donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
