Donna Marilyn Bryant
September 23, 1930 – October 25, 2024
Donna was born in Gillette, Wyoming to Frank and Alma Kane. She grew up herding sheep and helping with the housework on their sheep ranch. Donna and her mom moved to Miles City, Montana so she could attend Custer County High School. After graduation, in 1947 she met a dashing rancher named Clifford Bryant at a country dance. They were married on August 15, 1948. Together they had four children. They moved around to several ranches in Southeastern Montana where Cliff worked as a ranch hand, and in addition to being a young wife and mother, Donna cooked for all the ranch hands. The family moved to Canada in 1963 to realize their dream of owning their own ranch. They bought property at Fort Fraser, BC and both Cliff and Donna first became loggers to clear the land and earn the money to buy the first cattle for their ranch. In 1973 they moved to Alberta, ranching at Sunnybrook and Alix. In 1987, Donna and Cliff semi-retired to Summerland, BC. After 11 years they retired to acreage life, returning to Alix, AB. They moved to Wetaskiwin in 2008.
Donna passed away at the age of 94 years and is lovingly remembered by her cousin, Bethel Bryant; her children, Wade (Carolyn) Bryant, Karla Bryant, Darla Vala and Sharla (Shawn) Campbell; 12 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Cliff in 2015.
Donna was a proud rancher, wife and mother. She loved her family, a good book and the Toronto Blue Jays. Cremation has taken place.
Interment for Donna and Cliff to be held at a later date at Broadus, Montana.
