Donald Dargatz
1930 ~ 2022
Don was born on a farm in the Cloverlawn area northeast of Millet in November of 1930 and lived nearly his entire life there. He was known for his love of nature, especially for his dogs and his collection of pheasants. On May 5, Don left us behind for the welcoming arms of his Saviour Jesus Christ.
Don was predeceased by his two brothers, Arthur in 1938 and Herb in 1974, his parents, Adolf in 1979 and Auguste (nee Diewert) in 1996 and several brothers and sisters-in-law. He is survived by his wife of seventy years, Ida (nee Breitkreuz), sister-in-law Esther (John) Crabtree as well as brothers-in-law, Arnold Linde and Robert (Johanna) Breitkreuz. He also leaves four sons, Keith (Janie) of Leduc, Floyd of Ladysmith, B.C., Neil (Cathie) of Spruce Grove and Colin of Leduc, one daughter, Gayle (Wes) Duerksen of Millet; six grandchildren, Sarah and Dan (Lisa) of Edmonton, Graham of Ladysmith, Hadarah of Salmon Arm, B.C., Cassandra (Duncan) Goddard and Geoffrey Duerksen of New Norway, and two great-grandchildren, Isabella and Olivia Goddard, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 18 at 2:00 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 4730-51 Avenue in Wetaskiwin, with Pastor Doug Gordon officiating. This service will be available on the church YouTube page (https://youtu.be/0eEL_L5Y8a8). A private family burial at Wetaskiwin Memorial Cemetery will have taken place prior to the service.
Memorial donations may be made to the Ebenezer Baptist Church - Food Hamper Program or the Alzheimer’s Society of Alberta.
