Don was raised on the farm in the Greenglade District and attended school there as well, before going to school in Provost. Once he was old enough, he started working on the farm with his father.
Don married Judy Wagar December 26, 1960 and they had 4 children over the next five years.
Don is survived by his wife of 60 years, Judy; children, Maureen Bossert, Donna (Don) Jans, and Steve (Heather) Dancey; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
Don was predeceased by his parents, Samuel and Mary Dancey; son, Bud Dancey; four sisters; three brothers-in-law; two nephews; and two nieces.
Don was old-school, believed in working hard, and in his younger days, playing harder. He worked as a farm hand, truck driver, grain buyer and in the gas and oil sector working on rigs and operating gas plants until his retirement in 2001.
After getting bored staying home, Don started going with Judy to the North Petro Can daily making coffee and friends. Don loved his coffee.
He enjoyed working on vehicles and in his later years reading westerns, especially ones written by William W. Johnstone. He enjoyed joking and teasing people and caring for the family pets. Don will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Due to COVID-19 there will be a private family graveside service.
