Daniel Arnold Roy

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Daniel Arnold Roy on May 25, 2026 at the age of 65. He was born on October 22, 1960.

Daniel will be lovingly remembered by his wife Deanna Roy (Harden), mother Gisele Roy, siblings Louise (Darren) Robins, Suzanne (Mark) Hastings, Sylvie (Rene) Ayotte, Patrick (Marie-France) Roy, mother in law and father in law Duane and Darlene Harden, brother-in-law Dennie Harden and sister-in-law Darla Harden. He had numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Daniel was predeceased by his father Raymond Roy, his nephew Andrew Hastings, as well as many aunts and uncles.

Daniel was born in Cowansville, Quebec and lived in Sutton, Quebec. He moved to Alberta in 1982, at which time he resided in Wetaskiwin.

He met the love of his life and his best friend Deanna in 1993. They met at a cabaret by yelling "single" and Deanna never let him go. They were married August 16, 1997.  The two of them built their dream home in Sunny Side, Gull Lake at which time they still reside.

Daniel became a millwright and worked in Wetaskiwin, Red Deer and Ponoka. He was very mechanically inclined and loved to tinker.

Nieces and nephews nicknamed him "Uncle Buck"; they all have many stories about him. He had many friends, he was very generous with his time to anyone that needed help. If you looked up the definition of a volunteer, Daniel's name would be first on the list. An avid outdoorsman, he devoted every waking moment to the things he loved most - hunting, fishing and camping. He spent countless hours working to create a better future for generations to come.

Daniel and Deanna supported each other with patience, understanding and honesty.  A true love to be jealous of.

Family and friends will gather together for a Celebration of Life and Legacy on Saturday June 13, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at the Rimbey Fish & Game Lodge (24020 Township Rd 422, Ponoka County AB - 4 miles south of Rimbey).
