August 10, 1957 ~ June 7, 2023 (age 65) 65 Years Old

Curtis Archie Olstad
1957 ~ 2023

The family of Curtis Archie Olstad is sad to announce his passing at the Wetaskiwin Hospital and Care Centre on June 7th, 2023, at the age of 65 years.

Curtis was born to Archie and Lil Olstad on August 10, 1957. He was the youngest of 5 children, and is survived by his sisters, Beth Guderjan of Red Deer, Evelyn Prince of Drayton Valley, Faye Miller of Red Deer; brother, Wayne Olstad of Lacombe; niece, Janice Gruntman; nephews, Rick Guderjan, Doug Miller, Brad and Brian Olstad, Rob Irving, as well as great-nieces and great-nephews.

Curtis lived in Edberg, Home Glen, Red Deer and moved to Wetaskiwin at age 12, where he resided until his passing. Curtis attended the Horizons Centre for many years. He was very dedicated to his duties there. Once, when we visited him there, he would not even come say hello until he was done his task.  Curtis will be remembered for his love of fishing, dancing, the Edmonton Oilers, shuffling cards (we always had to bring him a new deck) and his love of coffee.

Special thanks to the caregivers at WDACS Residences 1 and 6 for caring for him for all these years. We know you will miss him too. As well, we are forever grateful for the Horizons Centre – thank you so much for helping Curtis over the years and for providing a happy place for him to go. Thanks also for the compassionate care Curtis received at the Wetaskiwin Hospital and Care Centre in his final days.

Curtis -  your big hugs will be missed so much.

There will be no funeral service, and a private interment will be held at a later date.

If desired, donations in memory of Curtis may be made to the Wetaskiwin & District Association for Community Service (5211 54 St, Wetaskiwin, Alberta, T9A 1T2)
