Craig Edward Woods was born September 16, 1959 in Edmonton and passed away on January 27, 2025 after a tough battle with Rectal Cancer. He rests peacefully now in warm weather guiding us all through the humor and memories that will be his legacy.
Craig spent most of his life in Ponoka. He worked in Construction and Refrigeration however, he spent the last many years of his working career with Ponoka County maintaining roads. He has been retired since 2017 and been spending his winters in Palm Springs up until his Cancer Diagnosis.
Craig is survived by his mother Inez Pgetzke of Edmonton; his uncle Don Fipke of Calgary and family; his wife Melodie; his children Shannon (Lee) Kocyba and Mitchell Woods; his grandchildren Locklyn, Jace, and Rylan Kocyba; his brother Barry (Carla) Woods and niece Brieanna of Kelowna; his step-sisters Carol Pgetzke of Edmonton and Anne Martinot of Calgary and family; and his step-brothers Les (Kathleen) Pgetzke of Edmonton and family and Ian Gorda of Edmonton and family; his father-in-law Berni Steinmann; brother-in-law Darin “Stan” Steinmann and family; sister-in-law Serena (Rob) Steinmann-Russell and family of Whitehorse; numerous cousins and second cousins in the Fipke, Plitt, and Kneller families; as well as numerous other nieces and nephews and many friends that he considered as close as family.
Join us to celebrate his life on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the Stagecoach Saloon on the Stampede Grounds in Ponoka. The service was video recorded and can be viewed in the link below.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are gratefully accepted to the Alberta Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
