Connie Mack Obituary

Connie Mack of Wetaskiwin, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026, at the age of 83.

Connie was born in Wadena, Saskatchewan on March 5, 1942, to Hank & Inez Althouse in Wadena, Saskatchewan.

Connie spent her early years in Kelvington, Saskatchewan, where she attended school before beginning her career with CIBC at the age of 16. At 17, she married Gilbert Wesley Mack on October 10, 1959. Together, they built a life marked by hard work, community involvement, and deep devotion to their growing family.

The couple first settled in Ceylon, Saskatchewan, where Connie worked at the local Credit Union for eight years. During their time there, she welcomed her first son in 1966. Afterward, they moved to Stoughton, Saskatchewan, where she had her second son in 1968 and continued working at the bank.

In 1970, Connie and her family moved to Fort Nelson, British Columbia, Fort Nelson would remain home for the next three decades, plus welcoming one more son in 1977. Connie worked briefly at a shoe store before returning to CIBC. Her entrepreneurial spirit eventually led her to open Connie’s Ladies and Children’s Wear, which she operated with pride and dedication. After she closed the clothing store, she opened her own Insurance Agency for a few years. Banking was in her blood, and she returned to CIBC for her remaining years in Fort Nelson.

Connie was known for her love of music and was an active member of a local band in Fort Nelson. She enjoyed baseball and curling, and in her later years, curling became her favorite sport to watch. Her warmth, energy, and enthusiasm made her a cherished presence in every community she joined.

When she retired in 2001, she moved to Wetaskiwin, Alberta. Retirement, however, did not suit her. Connie thrived on connection and purpose, and she soon returned to part‑time work at CIBC, filling in whenever needed.

Her later years were marked by a variety of roles that reflected her versatility and love of people. She joined a local radio station, where she hosted her own program featuring Grand Ole Opry music and assisted in bringing musical artists to the community. She later worked at Denham Ford, first in filing and then as a receptionist, and stepped in to support the Denham Autobody Shop full‑time for several months. During this period, she additionally helped at the front desk of the Prairie Breeze Motel.

Throughout her life, Connie was defined by her work ethic, her kindness, and her unwavering commitment to the people around her. She touched many lives through her music, her service, and her generous spirit.

Connie will be lovingly remembered by her family and all who knew her.

Connie is survived by her children Garlen Mack, Mallory (Teresa) Mack, and Dari (Tonya) Mack; Grandchildren, Kennedy and Cody; and her siblings Ethel Prouse, Mel Althouse, and Garth Althouse.

Connie was predeceased by husband Gilbert (Gil) Mack, and her parents, Hank and Inez Althouse, and her siblings Ken Althouse, Lorraine Althouse, and Wes Althouse.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Wetaskiwin Memorial Cemetery.
