It is with sadness the family of Casey Taylor announce his passing on July 13, 2025, at the age of 69. Casey was a brother to Teresa (Don) Kern and Gjöa Taylor (John Bilodeau); an uncle to Gjenna (Dave) Saretsky, Nansen (Jen) Vold, and Labrie (Allen) Kruger; and leaves behind many wonderful aunts, uncles, cousins, great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Vern Taylor and Norma (Billie) Taylor.
Casey was born in Edmonton on a leap year, February 29th, 1956. He made the move from the big city with his family to a farm in Ponoka, Alberta in 1972. This move played a pivotal role in his future passions. It sparked the beginning of a love for horses, farm life, and ranching. Casey’s love of the outdoors brought out the free spirit that defined him, living his life on his own terms, surrounded by nature.
Casey started his career in the oil patch in Alberta, and then moved overseas for several years. He lived in Majorca, Spain and Kitzbühel, Austria, while working in the North Sea on platform rigs. Casey travelled through Europe on his motorcycle, accompanied by his friends on many great adventures. He returned to his love of horses and the outdoors while spending many summers working for Warner Guiding and Outfitting in Banff National Park. Casey worked for many years as a ranch manager in the beautiful countryside of Sundre, Alberta. He always returned to his hometown of Ponoka, where he enjoyed the company of his good friends.
We will all remember Casey as a lover of the great outdoors with his horse and dog always by his side.
In memory of Casey, you can send donations to the local animal shelter, Old MacDonald Kennels at omk.shelter@gmail.com. Casey would like that.
A private ceremony will be held at a future date with his family.
