It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Carolyn Viola (Dukeshire) Halyrevich, 85, of Lacombe, Alberta at Lacombe Hospital and Care Centre, December 22, 2025. Born in Ste. Anne du Ruisseau, Nova Scotia on April 9,1940. Carolyn was the beloved daughter of Isaac Chipman Dukeshire and Mary Adelia (Banks) Dukeshire.
Carolyn married William (Bill) Halyrevich on July 7, 1963. They were married for almost 54 years before Bill’s passing in June of 2017. Carolyn was a lifelong educator, graduating from Kingsway College in 1961 and from Canadian Union College in 1990. She was the Alberta recipient of the 1993 Zapara Award for Excellence in Teaching, an honor that recognized her long service and dedication to Christian education. After retirement Carolyn continued to work with children as a Sabbath School teacher.
Carolyn believed in creating better conditions in various communities both near and far with involvement in social programs such as soup kitchens and support for seniors in Central Alberta, and health and education projects in developing countries.
