Brian (Dad) grew up on a farm east of Ponoka, attended Concord school until the opening of Mecca Glen in 1948. He grew up loving the farm, sports, especially hockey which he played all the way to Old Timers league. Brian married Darlene Stewart in 1960. Soon after they bought 3 quarters of land not far from his parents where they built a house to raise their 6 children. Dad loved camping, sports and participated in fishing, baseball, curling and coaching hockey for his sons, as well as assistant leader in the 4-H Beef club. In his early years of farming, he worked off farm on pipelines and oil rigs to make ends meet.
Two Limousin heifers were imported from France in 1972 and that was the start of his purebred herd. He went to cattle shows around the province and received a few championship awards. After the sale of the last of his herd, he moved into Ponoka, then out to Rimbey in October of 2025 until his passing.
Many thanks to all the staff at Ponoka Home Care, Ponoka Hospital, Rimoka and Rimbey Care Centre, who took great care of our Dad while he was there.
