It is with heavy hearts that the family of Ben Burns announce his passing in Camrose, Alberta, following a valiant battle with Dementia. He will be lovingly remembered by his family; son Shawn (Natasha) of Edmonton; daughter Colleen (Dave) of Kamloops; grandson Kyle of Innisfail, brother Patrick (Carol), sister Erma, brother Wade (Debbie) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Clarence and Callie, brother Jack and his brother Mervin.
Ben was born in Heart River, AB and later moved with his family to Tawatinaw, Cadomin and Stony Plain,AB where he completed his schooling. His outgoing personality moved him into pursuing a career in sales that brought him to Edmonton working primarily in the plywood industry including MacMillan Bloedel and Weldwood as a sales manager and later branch manager. Ben later opened his own successful business in the bifold door industry, moving him to Red Deer with his family in 1980 to expand his company. Ben was an avid golfer, curler, shuffleboard and dart player winning many championships. His passion for sports led him to support the Edmonton Oilers and Edmonton Eskimos for decades. He was a member of the Rotary Club for many years and took great pride in supporting his community.
Ben will be greatly missed by his family and all those whose lives he touched over the years, for his great sense of humor, quick wit, and zest for life.
Special thank you to the staff at Memory Lane in Camrose for their compassionate care and kindness.
There will be no formal service but you are invited to raise a glass of scotch and make a toast to his long life! Thanks for the memories!
