Barbara Marshall Obituary

Barbara L. Marshall passed away in Wetaskiwin, Alberta on October 9, 2018 at the age of 75 years.
Barbara Louise Marshall always chose joy. Even when facing the end of her life, she wasn’t sad about dying, instead she faced it with courage and was excited about seeing Stacy and her beloved late husband David. She got her wish when she passed away peacefully on October 9, 2018.  Affectionately called Barbie, her huge-heartedness, warm smile and generous spirit inspired people for 75 years.
Ingrid (Rich) Couillard, Sonya (Gary) Satveit, and Tony (Leanna) Marshall are filled with gratitude for having had a mom so loving that it made it so hard to say goodbye. Gwilym Martin bid farewell to his cherished friend and companion.  As a grandma, Barbara was the best! And Landon (Jenna), Gabriel, Joel and Stephan Moseson, Sophie, Chloe and Nolan White and Austin, Maycee and Mallory Marshall will always have their grandma to thank for being Oilers fans! Barbara was blessed with welcoming a third generation when great-grandson Rowan Moseson was born this year!  Gail Strigl, Joan Ramsey and Frans (Hans) Buxbaum lost a fun-loving sister.  Irma Thompson, Herb Martin and Ken Ramsey said goodbye to their bonus-sister, while Eileen Wood lost her lifelong friend and bingo buddy. Barb’s nieces and nephews remember her as a favorite auntie and so many friends cherished her as a “second mom”. The Oilers lost their number one fan and the bingo hall lost a loyal customer when Barbara passed. Numerous nursing colleagues loved working alongside someone who was so much fun! And Barbara’s patients were fortunate to have had experienced her compassionate care for more than 35 years. Barbara’s zest and joy for life touched so many people and will live on in everyone who loved her.
Barbara is predeceased by the love-of-her-life, David Marshall; sons Darrel Gale and Stacy Marshall; sister Dodie Martin; brothers Art and Grant Thompson.
Our family thanks the compassionate caregivers of Unit 35 and her caring doctors at the Wetaskiwin Hospital. A special thanks to friends Eileen Wood and Joan Losinski for their positive attitude and going the extra mile to support our Mom in her final days.
