It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Arnold “Arnie” Reiter at the age of 87. Arnold was born in Wetaskiwin, Alberta on June 1, 1937, and entered into eternity on February 21, 2025 in Wetaskiwin, Alberta.
Arnold is survived by his loving wife Laima (nee Berzins), whom he was married to for 52 years; his three children Mark (Kristy), Sandra and Doreen; his grandchildren Ashley (David) Fast, Julianna (Erik) Mathieu, George, Mattias, William, Magnus, Sara, Korina, Annabelle and Nora Reiter; his great-granddaughter Eliza Fast and great-grandbaby Mathieu (arriving soon); siblings Lilly (Bert) Reich, Marvin (Sylvia), May Tribiger, Netty (Gary) Laser, Harold (Lyn) and numerous nieces and nephews. Arnold was predeceased by his parents Gottlieb and Elsie Reiter; his brother Kenneth Reiter and grandson Joseph Reiter.
Arnold grew up in Wetaskiwin. After graduation he moved to Edmonton where he eventually started his career in sales working at the Hudson Bay Company. He then moved to Calgary. On August 19, 1972, he married his wife, Laima. They started their marriage in Vancouver where their first child, a son, was born. From there they moved to Kelowna, where Arnold opened a women’s shoe store called Fashion Shoes. Two daughters joined the family in Kelowna. Arnold sold his store and retired in 2000. After retiring, Arnold spent most of his time involved in different areas of his church. In 2023, Arnold moved back to Wetaskiwin with his wife to be closer to his son and his family. Arnold gave his life to the Lord at a young age, and we take comfort knowing that he is now with his Lord.
A funeral service will be held for Arnold on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the Mission Church in Wetaskiwin. The livestream link is located below.
