Alicia (Milburn) Sanderson

With deep love and sorrow, the family of Alicia Sanderson announces her peaceful passing on June 26, 2025, in Ponoka, Alberta, at the age of 81.

Lee was a gregarious, strong willed force of nature.  She could talk to anyone, anywhere, anytime.  Born on April 6, 1944, she left Liverpool in her early 20’s and emigrated to Canada, where she met Jerry on her second day in the country.  For over 50 years, they built a life filled with love, laughter, adventure, travelling and family.

Alicia was a beloved mother to Erin Sanderson and Lisa Bolton (Rob); and a cherished grandmother to Michael Sanderson (Jenna), Dominick Bolton (Shai), Liam Bolton, and Marco Bolton. Her legacy of love continues through her great-grandsons, Keanu and Kai Bolton, who brought her endless joy in her later years.

She had a deep love for the mountains of Canmore, Alberta, and the peaceful ocean shores of Chance Harbour, New Brunswick. These special places were her sanctuaries — where she felt closest to nature, to herself, and to the people she loved most.

Lee will be remembered for her deep love of animals, a strong independent spirit, and a determination that never wavered.  She knew what she wanted and was never afraid to speak her mind. 

Her life will be celebrated privately by her family, in the places she loved most.  She will be missed beyond words and loved beyond measure.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to the Alzheimer’s Society or your favourite animal shelter in her memory.
