Alice Hilda Buss was born in the Norwegian District by Mossbank, Saskatchewan on March 3, 1931, to Martin and Leokadia (Lottie) Dallman. Alice passed away peacefully on December 11 ,2025 at 94 years of age at Ponoka Extended Care, Ponoka, Alberta where the staff provided excellent care to Alice for over 6 years.
Alice lived on the Hauser/Dallman farm until 1934 when the drought forced them to move to Bashaw where other family members farmed. Later while working in Bashaw, Alice met Herbert Buss and in 1949 they married and began farming ten miles NW of Bashaw. Alice and Herb had two sons and many successful farming years, but parted ways in 1987 with Alice moving to Ponoka.
Alice loved gardening, both with vegetables and flowers, but she clearly excelled in raising flowers and creating her “Parks”. Alice also put up many fruits and vegetables in the freezer or jars.
Alice will be lovingly remembered by her two sons, Gary (Elaine) and Trevor (Shauna); four grandsons: Dylan (Anna), Byron (Leah), Brandon (Sarah) and Bryan (Miranda); seven great-grandchildren; and brother Bill (Caroline) Bonhage; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
An Interment Service will be at St. Peters Lutheran Church Cemetery on Highway 53 east of Ponoka at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 9, 2026, followed by a Memorial Service at 1:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Ponoka. After the Memorial Service, relatives and friends are invited by the family for a fellowship lunch in the lower level of the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in remembrance of Alice to any charity of one’s choice.
