Alfred Theodor Jans

Alfred Jans passed away in Breton, Alberta on August 28, 2021 at the age of 82 Years. He was born in Didsbury, Alberta and was the second youngest of nine children, three brothers and five sisters. He joined the navy at 17 years old and enjoyed sailing the world and seeing all the new places. Alfred became a chef during his time with the Canadian Navy. After leaving the navy he came back to Alberta and worked for farmers in Alberta and Saskatchewan. While he lived in Red Deer he was a member of the Ukrainian Club and was citizen of the year with them in about 1992. Alfred went to Cranbrook, B.C. to be head chef of the Cranbrook College University Restaurant. Later he resided at the Legion Arms in Wetaskiwin where he enjoyed everyone's company. He always had a smile and enjoyed joking around. Alfred is remembered by three sisters, nephews and nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces, one son and daughter-in-law. A celebration service will be held at a later date.
