Alexa Streeter Obituary

On March 24, 2024, Alexa Streeter stood and walked into the arms of her beloved husband, George Streeter, in the Ponoka and District Health Foundation (Long Term Care Unit) at the age of 87 years old.

Alexa Streeter, born March 10, 1937, in Clifton, Colchester County, Nova Scotia, graduated Nursing School in 1960. She practiced nursing for 20 years, and in 1985 her life was changed by a drunk driver. She unfortunately lost her career, and lots of her physical abilities. Despite their difficult last few years, she deeply loved her husband, and her life was further changed upon his passing on July 10, 2023.

Alexa is survived by her children Sandra (Wayne) Chisholm, Thasis Dawe, Terry (Candice) Streeter, Jean (David) Weibe, Denise (Bobby) Tucceri; four stepdaughters Susan (Mark) Brown, Anna (Niels) Jensen, Rose (John) Cheeks, and Linda (Mark) Stevens; cousins Bill MacDonald, Shirley McLean, Gail Hill, Carol Hawkins, and Anne Noble; she is further survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother Helen Gertrude Marsman; stepfather Gilbert Godin Sr.; son Todd Dawe; brother Gilbert Godin Jr.; and cousin Jim MacDonald.

Alexa loved knitting, crocheting, reading, and gardening. She loved to draw and paint in her spare time. She loved her animals. One of her favorite activities was going to the local farmer’s markets in Ponoka and Lacombe, usually followed by a nice meal out.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the Ponoka and District Health Foundation (Long-Term Care Unit), her favorite nurses Dan and Joe, and to Eunice Trowsdale for their love and care during her final years.

Alexa’s family would like to request no flowers. In lieu of flowers, donations are gratefully accepted to the Ponoka and District Health Foundation (Long-Term Care Unit).

A Private Family Service will be held.

A Memorial Reception will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024. More details will be announced as they become available.
