Albert Murfitt Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our husband, Dad, Grandpa, and Gramps, Albert Murfitt who peacefully passed away at home surrounded by family, in Wetaskiwin on July 9 at the age of 89.

Albert is survived by his wife of 69 years, Dorothy; children, Daryn (Danna) Murfitt, Darcy (Danette) Murfitt, and Cheryl (Darrell) Chinook; 7 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; his sister, Myrtle Schmidt; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Mirton and Minnie; sisters, Margaret Molyneaux, Mary Phippen.

Albert was born in Wetaskiwin July 8, 1936 and was raised on the family farm at Yeoford. He went to school at the Seattle School and at Winfield School.

He left school in the early 50’s to go to work where he got a job building power lines throughout Alberta. This is where he met Dorothy Hamilton of Fort Macleod and they were married in 1956. Their family grew with the birth of Daryn in 1957, Darcy in 1958, and Cheryl in 1962. They followed power line work around Alberta until they moved back to the farm in 1963, that had been in the family since 1910. Albert also had a trucking business hauling cream, cattle, grain, coal, or anything that people needed. He continued farming until 2019 when they retired and moved into Wetaskiwin where he resided until his passing.

A very special thank you to Dr. Van der Walt and to Reese from home care.

Cremation has taken place, and by Albert’s request no service will be held.
