Agnes Violet (Doering) Gustafson

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Agnes Violet Gustafson (Doering) on October 20, 2024, at the age of 91 years. 

Agnes was born on March 6, 1933 in Wetaskiwin and was one of eight siblings to Elsor and Elizabeth Doering. She attended the Pleasant Prairie School, Wetaskiwin County.  Once finished her primary school days, Agnes worked as a nursing aide at the Wetaskiwin Hospital.

She met the love of her life Dennis Gustafson, while working in the Wetaskiwin Hospital.  They married on June 21, 1969.  Agnes then moved out to the Gustafson family farm helping Dennis with his cattle, pig, chicken and grain operation.  Together they welcomed their only son Dallas, on July 5, 1970.  They continued to expand their farming operation, while chasing Dallas around the farm keeping him out of trouble.  

She had a deep relationship with God and spent a good portion of her days studying the bible.  She faithfully attended the Malmo Covenant Church for service.  When she moved into town, she and Dennis became members of the Calvary Baptist Church and faithfully attended service as often as they could.

Agnes leaves to mourn her son Dallas (Christine) Gustafson; sisters Helen (Ken) Lomas and Myrtle Reid; grandsons Brenden and Carter Gustafson, as well as numerous nieces & nephews.

She is predeceased by her husband Dennis Gustafson; parents Elsor and Elizabeth Doering; in-laws Walfred & Elsa Gustafson; sister Velma Doering as well as her brothers Pierce (Hilda) Doering, Bruce (Bernie) Doering, Erick Doering and Neil Doering.

A funeral service will be held at Baker Funeral Chapel in Wetaskiwin on Monday, October 28, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. 

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for memorial donations to be made to the Good Samaritan Society with a note in the memo line to state “Good Shepherd Lutheran Home Wetaskiwin”.
