Sharon Mae Mass

With great sorrow, we announce the passing of Sharon Mae Mass. Sharon was born on August 12, 1948 in Tisdale, Saskatchewan and grew up in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta.

Sharon was living in Edmonton when she met the love of her life. She married Larry Ernest Mass on June 22, 1974. Larry and Sharon spent most of their 44 years together in Ponoka, working and raising their family of three children. Sharon worked at the Ponoka Hospital and Care Center for 30 years. She volunteered with many organizations such as Girl Guides of Canada and the Lutheran Ladies Auxiliary. After a brief but brave battle with cancer, Sharon passed away at the Ponoka Hospital and Care Center on December 27, 2018.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband Larry; her children Brandi, Sandra, and Curtis (Heidi) and grandson Hunter; her sister Arlene (Gordon) Pluto and nephew Christopher, and niece Becky (Derek) Roche and their two children; her sister Beverly Holmes and nephews Nathaniel (Andrea) and Joshua; and her brothers-in-law James, Hugh, Robert, Martin, and their families. Sharon was predeceased by her parents Marshall and Jean Schiltroth.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Ponoka, on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. with a luncheon to follow.

Donations in Sharon’s name are gratefully accepted to the Cross Cancer Institute, Alberta - Immunotherapy Research.
