Ronald Lavern Mayer

Ronald Mayer passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on May 9, 2018 in the company of family. He was 71 years old.

Ron was born on September 19, 1946 in Herbert, Saskatchewan. He is predeceased by his parents Evelyn Hansen and Harvey Mayer. He is survived by his daughter Jessica (Dustin Kress) Perry; two grandchildren Samantha and Parker Kress of Ponoka, Alberta; his sister Arlene Cathcart; nephew Roger Metz; and nieces Melody Metz and Dawn Peppard.

Ron’s last two years were spent living in Ponoka, Alberta. He loved being close to his daughter and grandchildren. His younger years were spent behind the lens of a camera, a set of drums, or holding a fishing rod. The open prairie is where he always wanted to be. He spent many years working as a sheet metal mechanic and later developed a passion of architecture. His photography progressed to digital art, and he was never far from his computer, even during his last days.

A celebration of Ron’s life will be held at a later date.
