Robert Allan Knight

Robert (Rob) Allan Knight, of Tees, beloved son of Lyall and Linda Knight, passed away suddenly during the early hours of March 30, 2019 at the age of 54 years after an exceptional battle with a rare form of thyroid cancer.

Robert was born in Lacombe, Alberta on May 13, 1964 being the eldest of five children.  Rob proudly lived his entire life on the farm and was his happiest bringing in his harvest from the land that was his pride and joy.  Being an avid 4-H member, he was a natural at public speaking which led him to be an esteemed public speaking judge later in life.  This led to several improv appearances as Santa Claus at the Nebraska Community Centre to the delight of many children.  Although he never demanded much attention, Rob thoroughly enjoyed delivering fool-headed comic relief while appearing in several plays at the Majestic Theatre in Bashaw.  He had an uncanny ability to create the biggest laughs with his expressive eyes.

Rob dedicated much of his life in service to God and was an active member of Parish Council at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Bashaw for many years.  Robert’s best quality was his genuineness.  All who knew him in many aspects of his life will surely miss his presence at family and community events where he enjoyed a great visit with everyone.

Robert will be dearly missed by his parents Lyall and Linda Knight; his brother John (Karen); sister Julia Boser (Len); brother Bruce (Karen); brother Peter (Lindsay); numerous nieces; his nephew; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; as well as many close friends and neighbours. 

A Prayer Vigil for Robert will be held on April 3, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish (4919 51 St, Bashaw, Alberta).

A Funeral Mass will be held on April 4, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Stephens Catholic Parish (5128 53 St, Lacombe, Alberta). 

The interment service will be held immediately following the Funeral Mass at the Earlville Rutherford Cemetery north of Tees, followed by a luncheon at St. Stephens Catholic Parish (Hall) in Lacombe.
