Robert Charles Crandall

Robert Charles Crandall, age 92, beloved father, uncle, and brother passed away January 12, 2019 at the Ponoka Hospital and Care Centre.

Robert was born August 7, 1926 in Ponoka, Alberta to Marcus and Ida Crandall of the Ferrybank District.  As a young man Robert worked on the farm with his father.  At the age of 23 he left home to settle down, also in the Ferrybank District, to raise a family and establish a stake of his own. He enjoyed farming and raising cattle immensely before moving to Calgary in 1959 and subsequently selling the homestead 10 years later.  While in Calgary Robert drove taxi and was active in real estate where he bought and sold rental properties.  Robert returned to Ponoka in 2014 due to ill health and resided at Northcott Care Centre.

Robert will be greatly  missed by his sister Elsie Bragg of Ponoka, brother Hugh Crandall of Grants Pass, Oregon, and his sister Dixie Malcher of Ponoka, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  Robert was predeceased by his son Cameron, sisters Mildred Taylor, Myrtle Stewart, Marie Bragg, and Edith Santee and brothers Alva and Ernest Crandall.

A private family celebration of life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion on Thursday, January 24, 2019.  Robert's ashes will be buried in the grave of his late son Cameron in Red Deer.
