Malcolm Angus French

February 19, 1927 ~ January 30, 2017 (age 89) 89 Years Old

Malcolm “Mac” Angus French
February 19, 1927 - January 30, 2017

Mac was born in Wetaskiwin February 19, 1927, to Horace and Annie French, and was the younger brother to Rod. He began working at his dad's jewelry store while in high school and soon was working side by side with his dad repairing watches and jewelry. On July 11, 1956, Mac married his sweetheart Shirley Davidson, and the two of them raised two children, Doug and Donna. Mac and Shirley were married 60 years this past July and had a wonderful life together, raising their children, travelling, and watching their two grandchildren grow up. Mac had many interests throughout his years, as he was a drummer in the air cadets, played the piano, curled, golfed, skied, was a Kinsmen, and K40, and sang with many friends in barbershop quartets. Almost every summer of his life was spent at the family cabin at Ma-Me-O Beach. So many memorable moments were made there with family and friends around bonfires, boat rides on the lake, and singing with fellow barber shoppers. Mac also had coffee every day up until the last few months with his coffee group where they shared stories and exchanged opinions on local happenings. Mac was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He had such a great sense of humour, a smile in his heart and on his face, and could always make a hard time easier. He was loved so very much will be deeply, deeply missed.

Mac is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Shirley; son, Douglas (Susan) of Cochrane, AB; daughter, Donna (Bruce) Mikulecky of Osoyoos, BC; grandchildren, Marli Mikulecky, Jeff (Ella) Mikulecky; brother, Rod (Dorothy) French; niece, Margaret French; nephew, David (Virginia) French; brother-in-law, Jim Davidson; nephews, Mark and Scott (Liesel), as well as numerous other relatives and friends.  Mac was predeceased by his parents, Horace and Annie French.
