Lee Johnson Obituary

Lee Lynn Johnson

Lee was born February 15, 1934 in Wetaskiwin, Alberta and passed away August 17, 2019 at the Wetaskiwin hospital. He was at peace and in the company of his family.
He will be remembered by his sister Delaine (Vernon) Nelson and their children: Laureen Chew and her children Cameron and Steven, Darcy (Betty) and their daughter Anna, Denamarie (Bruce) Heggeurude and their children Abigail and Grace, Robert (Ivette) and their children Nadine and Victor.
Lee will also be remembered by his stepchildren: Lorraine (George) Perry, Lucille Albers, Roger (Adele) Albers, and Jeff (Myrna) Albers; step grandchildren, Robert (Tammy) Perry, Colette (Shawn) Graham, Dennis (Jenyse) Perry, Matthew (Teeshia) Perry, Monique Johnson (Glyn Evans), Kyle (Jill) Neilson, Kent Neilson, Amy (Brad) Verbeek, Ryan (Isa) Albers, Cody (Shaye) Albers, Tyler (Kyria) Albers; 14 step great-grandchildren.
Lee was predeceased by his parents, Robert & Helen (nee Nelson) Johnson; his brother, Bernard and his wife of almost 30 years, Eileen (nee Hanson) Johnson.
Lee farmed for many years with his parents and then later with his brother, Bernard, on the home farm. He also was an auctioneer clerk for Ed Karlo. It was while clerking that he met the love of his life, Eileen. They were married March 11, 1989 and shared so many common interests. They quit farming soon after their marriage and continued to work for Ed Karlo; however, they began following their passion for all things antique, farmer’s and flea markets. Lee’s uncanny ability to connect with people gave him and Eileen a large circle of friends with whom they loved to visit at many sales.
Travel became a large part of their later years. An Alaskan cruise, a trip to Hawaii, and a train trip around the USA were some of the many places that they enjoyed. They loved visiting family and as a result made many trips to Saskatchewan, BC or Ontario to pay a visit to family members.
In later years, Lee and Eileen transitioned from the farm to Wetaskiwin. While they missed the farm dearly, they were content in the fact that they had each other. Eileen passed in December of 2018 and now he has gone on to be with her. Lee will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Memorial contributions in Lee’s memory may be made to the Wetaskiwin Health Foundation (Recreation Therapy Department of Long Term Care at the Wetaskiwin Hospital).

A drop-in luncheon and open mic for family and friends will be held at the Wetaskiwin Mission Church, 3610-56 Avenue on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at 1:00 p.m.
